Most databases, journals, and articles require authentication before they can be accessed off-campus.
Requirements for off-campus access
Be a current student, faculty, or staff member
Due to licensing restrictions required by publishers who produce electronic resources, off-campus access to the databases is limited to authorized users. Only currently enrolled students or currently employed staff or faculty of UNLV can access licensed databases from off-campus. Alumni are not eligible for this privilege.
Possess an ACE account
Your ACE account authenticates off-campus access. Questions? Contact the Circulation Desk at 702-895-2111 or library.access@unlv.edu.
Have internet access and an updated web browser
You must be running the most current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge to connect from off-campus. Some databases only work with certain browsers. If you are having trouble accessing materials, try using a different browser before seeking technical help.
Have cookies and Javascript in your browser enabled and disable any pop-up blockers
Many of the databases and e-journals require that you have cookies and Javascript turned on in your browser. Some use pop-up windows to display information. Check your browser settings for how to turn on these features.
Steps to access library materials remotely
- Select a database, journal, article, ebook, streaming video, etc.
- Before the item opens, a screen asking for your ACE account username and password will appear.
